"highboy" is used for ford 4x4's before midyear 1977. It was named so because of the high stance of the trucks. They have a divorced transfercase, meaning there is an intermediate driveshaft between the transmission and tcase. I believe also that the frame is straight and a crossmember at the front of the frame. Correct me if i'm wrong.
yes Highboy was used to refer to the higher stance .
Tre-E_Ford you are correct about the other things you stated about the Highboys also but the term only stood for the higher stance of those 4x4 trucks I do believe?
I could be wrong too? I have a 76 F 250 xlt 4x4 Highboy
