Hey there guys. I just have a question about my front end on my ford. I have a 1989 ford f150, 4X4,and i was looking to swap the fenders, lights, and whatever else i need to, to change it over to a 1996 front end. I like the looks of the placement of the lights and hood better and if theres any way possible to do this i would love to know. Any answers, let me know! I'll take anything!
Yes this has been done. You need the complete front clip including the hood and fenders, rad support, lights and grill, and you will need to create or modify the bumper brackets to mount the newer style bumper.
Oh really? Even the lights? thats what i am most worried about, because with the 88-90 lights, they are totally different then the 96's so i was unsure about that. I am likely going to change it over once i finish up the truck. I first need to put in the new rear engine seal, i started that yesterday, and then fix the dash lights and such. Did you switch from a f-350 to an f-150?

Sounds like you missed the fact you have to change everything including the rad support.
ohhhhh right. I guess i did miss that. Are those real hard to change? I can't say I've changed them before, I'm only 17, I just really want to learn how to do all this!

Not at all.. the whole front end of these trucks including the rad support are bolt-on parts. FYI.. I have changed a rad support without removing the rad or draining the coolant.. though it was on a manual truck(no tranny cooler lines).
thats good then! i think im going to start looking for a front clip and then when i have some more time, im going to start switching it over.if i do have to take off the rad, its not a huge deal, but hopefully i can do it without.
I have 96 F150 that needs some major front end suspension work. Can anyone help me with what to check to get rid of the terrible shaking it does from 30-38 and from 44 MPH on up? I know that the springs may be weak and I plan to buy the bushing set that will raise it 1" or 2" depending on whether or not I put one (below the springs) or two (above & below) the springs. JC Whitnet sells them for $10.00 each, so even if I buy 4 of them, it's still half the cost of new springs! I don't have the cash right now to go crazy throwing money at this...Sol I am looking to fix it as cheaply as possible for now. One of the front wheels is worse than the other, but both of them are kicked out at the bottom. I believe this is "Camber" ? I heard that there is an offset bolt that I can adjust in order to bring them back in to where they should be...Is this correct? I replaced the wheel bearings & seals and couldn't find any extra play in the front end that would indicate a bad ball joint. I am open to try anything...Any ideas???
Thanks,
Tom
I'm not really sure what to tell you Tom. My truck does the same thing from about 85kmh, to 100, and then it rides decent. It's a 1989 ford f150 4X4, raised 3"(body) and has 33's on it. But it rides so nice before it hits 85, I'm not sure what is wrong. So I'm in the same position as you, anyone have any answers, help us out
