Rear Diff oil question

Owners manual calls for 80W 90 for the rear diff in my B4000. I want to replace the fluid with synthetic but none of the stores around here seem to carry a synthetic 80w90 gear oil. I found a synthetic blend, but not a "full" synthetic. Would something like Royal Purple or Mobil 1 75w90 be acceptable or would i risk damaging something? I cant see how it would make that much of a difference but I'm no expert.

Yeah I would say it's pretty much the same. Maybe because it's synthetic it can be a little thinner and still get the job done?

This is a pretty good article I just found:

It will actually be better than the 80w-90. "75w" means the lube is thinner when cold, but it is still a 90wt at operating temp.

PW01 is correct, 75W90 synthetic would actually be better than 80W90.
