Just expect everything to be rusty/crusty and fairly stuck

2 ways I have heard to do this.

One is to raise the truck front end off the ground and support with jackstands on the frame , grind the rivits off of the radious arm support, and drill out the holes for a 1/2 grade 8 bolt replacement with some lock-tight thread locker .

The other is tojack the front end off the ground supporting the truck by the frame behind the radious arms with jack stands. just a couple inches behind the brackets.

Then use a jack to put a little pressure near the axle piviot bolts , Loosen the radious arm bushings , remove the piviot arm bolts , then slowly lower the jack letting the piviot arm come out of the mounting bracket . Then remove the nut on the radious arm and pull it out the bracket, replace your bushings. and put everything back in reverse

I'm sure there are other ways, I have replaced them with the second way. Next time I will do them the first way.

Haha I'm actually replacing the whole bracket not just the bushing! But thanks for the future tip!! I'm mostly worried about the large bolt/stud that goes through the axle housing!

Oh...

Well I hope you have a big "cheater bar". The bolt that holds the front of the radous arm to the axle is torqed @ 300 FT.LBS

The other ways mentioned are ways to aviod breaking this bolt loose......Lol

My books says :

Radious arm to axle upper stud bolt............240 - 260 Ft. lbs

Radous arm to axle lower bolt ............................320 - 340 ft. lbs.

Radous arm to rear bracket .................80 - 120 Ft. Lbs
