You'll need to lift the engine about 1-2 inches and set it on wood blocks. It's not really that difficult, you'll just need to disconnect a few things here and there to make clearance. You'll also need a floor jack to support the transmission as you'll need to remove the crossbar. Here's a link that can walk you through it: http://www1.autozone.com/az/cds/en_u...rInfoPages.htm

You don't need to remove the exhaust, you just need to disconnect it. At the flange before the cat is the best place. If you don't, it'll put pressure on the manifold and will most likely crack it. You'll need new hardware to reconnect the flange (nuts/bolts/gasket) as you the studs tend to rust and break when removed.
It is a pain in the ***, but beats spending a few hundred bucks for someone else to do it. If you're mechanically inclined, you should be able to do it in a day.

i'd do it its just i have no time. my truck was a farm truck, so it sat on grass and the oil pan took the abuse. as long as i dont havd to disconnect it from the manifold were ok.
