swapping motors

Thought I'd point out a few things. The best truck I've ever had was a '86 F150 Stepside 4x4 302ci, 4 speed manualw/granny gear. If all the trucks of that year were like mine, then your talking swapping a fuel injected 300 for a 302 fuel inject, which the eec and the required sensors will probably have to be included in the swap. If your bolting in a carburated 302, then it won't be so bad, still need to get: motor mounts, throttle cable, bell housing(maybe), radiator for the 302, the 302 might move the tranny back, may need drive shaft, (is this a 4x4?),will effect your transfer case(it may need swapped out, tranny and torque converter swaps probably, different pinion shaft to receive the different drive shaft possibly, front suspension and brakes upgrade to handle V8 weight. Thats about all the things I can think of off the top of my feeble brain. There were lots of articles on ford engine swaps in the petersen magazine 4 wheel & offroad, may be go to their sight and see if they have posted any of their old articles. Good luck on the swap, Adios, JAB.
