I hit a pot hole the other night that was so deep I snapped the "stabilizer link" on the passenger side of the truck. Of course... my tools and garage are 2.5 hours away so I had to take it to a local Mechanic. Had him replace the link on the drivers side as well.
He cut back on the labour charge because I had both links replaced but it was still a nice $138.00 bill. Thank you County of Peterborough!!!
ya are roads suck . where in peterborough did it happen
Not a whole heck of alot you can do about that situation, it's been winter then spring then winter again, all winter long and it's been like that the last few years.
I'm from Quebec, came up in '98 right after the ice storm and could'nt believe the roads up here , did'nt matter what you drove it felt like you were driving a cadd..er.....Lincoln, and it's been downhill ever since.
Rapid expansion, can't keep up with the infrastructure, small time politicians did'nt get voted out fast enough, etc, etc.
Time to sue for broken shocks and such, time to use that camera on your phone
Roads are horrible everywhere. I drive a three-wheeled electric scooter. I prefer three wheels, less bumpy than a four wheeled scooter. My front wheel has a built in shock system while the rear axle is stiff. No shocks or suspention there. Sure prefer winter roads. The snow fills in the pot holes and grader grades it flat.
CLayton, bring the town or MTO your bill of repair, location of the incident, and an incident report filled by the mechanic. Whom ever if the incident hapened on a city street, the city would be oblidged to pay your damage repair cost. If it happened on a Hwy, the MTO would be held responsible. It is their duty to maintain decent roads beyond death and/or vehicular damage.

It happened on Hyw 28, north of Apsley, just before the county line for Hastings. I am going to take Tyl's suggestion and contact the MTO but if memory serve me correctly Hwy 28 was one that was "downloaded" onto the county from the Provence of Ontario so it would be a private company ( probably Miller Paving) that looks after the maintenance.
Will see what happens but one thing I know is "I am going to take it easy when I go up this Friday and I will be taking my Digital Camera with me".
Our roads up here in Thunder Bay are crap as well it's pretty bad when the gravel roads are smoother and better to drive on than the city streets LOL
I used to have a lot of fun running around the "Northern Ontario Super Hyways". Especially the logging roads. Got to keep them smooth for the Skidders eh?
I've noticed the 401 eastbound got really bad in the Cambridge/Guelph stretch this winter.
As for the MTO/municipality paying for vehicular damage, I believe their official policy is "TFB!"
Yeah, I noticed that thing about the 401 last weekend when I was passing through.
Around here the roads aren't to bad, there's a few that could be fixed but my town has pretty good roads. Except for the intersection they repaved in september, that started sprouting potholes in november

The backroads around my neck of the woods north of Bowmanville and Durham are pretty rough. I travelled the 401 this weekend to London and I couldn't believe how bad some sections of the highway were. Several times I thought the steerin' wheel was gonna come out of my hands and I'd end up in the guardrail or another vehicle as I bounced through some of the potholes.

You are right Chad. When I called on Thursday they said" I should have seen it". I did notice the hole was filled on Friday night when I went back up there though and it is the MTO that still inspects HWY 28. They just sub the work out to private companies.
Tough gig trying to get the Region to pay for any damages.
If I were to close my eyes and drive the 401 East or West between London and Whitby I'd swear I was in Detroit, this year it seems really bad, now the fun starts, Pot hole repair
