Someone was making a mistake saying that. I put a Flowmaster on my ride and besides sounding better from leaving the muffler shop there was a distinct feeling in the response and low end torque. Now mind you I have a Livewire tuner and an 87 octane tune now which enhanced the low end torque. Some day I'll put better pipes on but the stock muffler winding up in the trash was one of the best things I've done.

Pipes too large, especially up front (which would mean removing the cats) can sometimes cost low end performance, but not just a muffler on stock pipes. The Flowmasters are very good at maintaining exhaust flow and should give you a small boost in all rpm ranges, but most noticable at high rpm. Some of them are not as good at being quiet, but that's an issue between you and your ears ...between your ears?

Mine's not loud enuff for my liking. I've got to take a sound bite and see what it sounds like near the tail pipe.

I know how you feel, kaboom, but I'm probably a fair bit older than you and all of my loud engines of the past, unfriendly gunfire and loud ship engines took a toll on my hearing. You can't get it back. I'm still a few steps away from a hearing aid, but, dang, I say "Huh?" more than I'd like to!

I'm 61 years young. I've been in and around dyno cells for longer than I can remember. The last time I went into a dyno cell without hearing protection it was for a fire. I guess almost dying last year is still making me feel young again. i even love the sound of weapons fire. That's where the name Kaboom came from. I did a sound bite and the new muffler has got to go. I think it will be a Heart Throb next time.

Wow! Ya got me beat! Until now, I had everyone who wanted a louder truck pegged as a young, testosterone-deranged "studly do-right." I guess I better curtail the, "I'll tell ya what sonny..." routine! I think most of my hearing went sitting between a pair of Atlas-Imperial, 1200hp marine diesels at full throttle (180rpm).

Just an old fart that's young at heart. Got a couple of great-nephews that keep me young and hopping. I rough housed their dad and uncle when they were that age so it's their turn. People wonder why I'm sitting at a light and jamming to the tunes. I guess I have to get old but I don't have to grow up. LOL

50 series

I got the 50 series delta flow muffler with the stock pipe set-up, what if I dumped it before the rear axle would it be louder? 08' F-150 5.4L

Yes, it should get louder, not a lot but enough.
