Yeah, the ref passed mine. Here's a list of all the things I changed.
-Completely replaced and wired correctly all of the vacuum lines, with all the right peices in all the right places.
-Rebuilt the carb, cleaned the egr spacer
-Replaced EGR valve
-plugs, wires, cap, rotor, distributor replaced
-tuned to perfection
--carb tuning, and alot of it.
--timing at 7, a little under
--replaced the vacuum advance unit on the dist
--replaced plug wires again.
Mainly a lot of fine tuning. Check the timing on the high side to. Too much vacuum advance will kill the high side. A good guide to idle carb screws is screwing in raises HC's and lowers CO, while screwing out lowers HC's and raises CO's. I can give you a vacuum diagram if you tell me the specifics on the truck. Thats all I can think of right now.
There are about 7 different diagrams for that combo, depending on a few different things. I would highly recommend going to a smog ref. The ones I talked to are always pretty cool about everything. They will however, make sure that EVERYTHING is right, which might mean spending a little more money. But otherwise, see if you can find a Mitchells Emissions manual for that year. It will tell you absolutely everything you want to know. I got mine from a friend that worked at a smog/gas station, but I got the same thing from the smog ref. If you plan on just getting it tested at a smog shop, I would definitely recommend going to a nontestonly shop, so they can fiddle around with it.
