Ok so the fuel pump is in.. Big change 35 psi key on, 30 psi eng running and when you gas it the pressure goes up instead of going down which is why the vac line..I have a feeling that the power thing is fixed. I will be using the van later today so we'll see. The straps showed up and everything went together nice. I had to replace the rear brake line to the right side also. All these little things add up to hours. I must have $200.00 into this van so far since it was given to me..I have to pull the egr off and see if its stuck.. Later

good repair thread on bringing back an old girl to road warrior status.
the fuel systems on these modern rigs and the fuel quality/cleanliness is so good that we often forget about fuel system problems

i read thru the thread, must have missed it, how many miles on the road queen and the FP? original pump?

NASA WE HAVE POWER!! The pump was all the problem. Starting and power...
Runs good except slight surge at just above idle which is most likely the P0402 egr on at idle code. And I want to fix the water temp gauge wild swing I'm guessing the cheap themostat is the reason. The gauge goes from one extreem to the other..Could be the sensor also I suppose.

Good on the fuel pump fix!

Swinging temp gauge is not the sensor, You can check that with your scantool. I'm betting 95%You have air in the system . I believe the highest point in the system is the Pipe which runs next to the alternator where the oil filler cap is. Get air out through there when warmed up.

Had to change the radiator cause it had a leak. Too bad you have to discharge the ac on the 96's because you don't have to on the 94..The new rad came out of the 94 so it was free and fairly new cause I replaced it last year. So the 94 has no ac compressor so no belt no rad so no coolant no rear shocks so it bounces bad but i'm still driving it in and out of the garage. Its funny..Going to order an egr solenoid valve thingy. It must be stuck on. I get 402 for a code and rough running at just above idle so I'm figuring thats all it could be. Can't be the sensor....

Ok so the radiator I put in had a leak also so I got a new oem for $100 so I changed it again. Charged the system again. Fixed the alt light on. Some kinda grease on the reg connector, cleaned it and all is well. I got a egr sensor comming. I bought a nibbler and a flanger for some sheetmetal work I'm going to be starting soon..Van runs great.

I put the egr sensor in. The wife drove it and all she complained about was the rust. So I have to drive and see if the above idle surge is gone as well as the code 402. Picked up a set of front gas shocks on ebay for$1.04 Yahoo $10.00 shipping. Bargain.

I drove it today and the egr problem is gone. Now just today I got a P0401 on my truck comming back from work. I ordered the exact part again. Oh well. The van runs great I just need to get some time to do the rust work...Later

A code P0401 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:

* The DPFE (differential pressure feedback EGR) sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced
* There is a blockage in the EGR (tube), most likely carbon buildup
* The EGR valve is faulty
* The EGR valve may not be opening due to a lack of vaccuum

I meant my truck not my van .My 99 f350. 5.4l. Those old aluminum sensors don't last very long. Thanks 96 I hope its just the sensor all else looks well.

That fixed the 401 code. The moral of this story is if you have the old aluminum egr sensor It will go bad giving PO401 or 402 codes. Change the sensor first cause they go bad alot...
