97 250 auto

Hello to all, I am new but I have an old problem. The truck in question lopes real bad hot or cold on start up. I have 170K on the engine, I replaced all injector O rings, my IPR reading is 12 to 13% at hot idle. All injectors appear to have equal oil exhaust out of the oil spouts, cyl.contribution is ok, truck has great power for a stock truck, replaced cam sensor, replaced IPR valve with a known good IPR with new seals, each head will start the engine on 4 cyls. when isolated, does anyone know what the IPR reading should be when the HIGH Pressure oil pump is dead headed? I can't seem to fix this truck, I also checked for oil aeriation. Dello 400 15/40 is in the truck. Any Ideas ?

i beleive that it could still be the glow plugs. check those and let us know. you definatly came to the right spot someone will definatly be able to help you.and welcome to fte

you probably need a transmission range sensor. common lope idle cause if it does it hot and cold. TRS is on the driverside of the tranny at the shift cable/arm.

tjbeggs, you are 100% correct. I found the problem yesterday about 3:30 and could not believe it. I did not have any codes but I inadvertantly placed it in neutral an cranked the engine and / smooth idle. I put it back in park and lope. While it was lopeing I shifted to neutral and smooth idle again. Replaced defective trs and everything is ok, thanks for the help everyone.

Glad to hear. Its the number one cause of hot and cold lope idle start-ups.
