towing 6000lbs camper

i said this before but i think i used defrent forum would like to know if i can tow a 6000lbs camper with 2001 f150 4.6 3.55 .i have power programmer ,exhaust,heavyduyt shocks and addtnl leaf springs. i now tow 5000lbs camper and it does good

what tranny do you have, 4x4 or 2x4, regular cab supercab?

depending what setup you have changes the tow capacity greatly. ranges from 2,900lbs for a supercab 4x4 with a standard trans to 7,200 with a 2x4 regular cab auto tranny. but if you tow 5,000lbs now and don't have any problems then i think you should be ok with a extra 1,000lbs. not a huge increase.

your truck is rated for either 6,100lbs or 6,600lbs. there is 2 listed and all it says is 16" or 17". i don't know if that is rim size or not. if so then if you have 16" rims then it is 6,600 if 17" rims then 6,100. either way you should be alright.

legally your tow rating will never change. but with the upgrades it will handle it better.

thanks for the info guys think am going to buy the new camper. keep it as light as i can. i do not go very far win camping
