I feel really stupid asking this, but the only dumb questions are those not asked. Right? Well anyways There is a black rubber boot on the floor by my drivers side door, and i have no idea what it is. It looks to me like some type of reservoir maybe for clutch fluid, but it could also be some sort of priming system for brakes? Clutch? I don't know what it is so if anyone knows that would be great. Thanks a lot guys.
yep.. foor bellows for winder washing.... Ford actually used these well into the late 80s in the C series units. Bought a 200k E One class a pumper in 89 with one..... missed electric washers on the specs when i wrote them....DOH! Guys bitched for months as SOP required bunkers on when operating and the pump was a pita to work with them on....
The C Series (flat nosed tilt cab) type was used thru 1991, and is the same unit used on some pickups thru 1967: C8TZ-17664-A (C8TZ = typical example of an updated Ford part number).
The LN Series used a similar unit beginning in 1970: DOHZ-17664-A.
These above units have just a bellows mounted on the floor you step on.
There were other units that hung from the dash, and have a pedal. There were two types of these...manual or electric. The same two types were also used on cars, and the accessory kits pop up on ebay new in the box. The most commonly seen kit is: C2OZ-17A553-A .. Washer Kit.
This kit comes with everything, bag, pump, hoses, clamps, mounting hardware....the whole tamale. While the instructions are for Falcons and Fairlanes, the trucks used the same one, only difference = the bag is red, and the furnished hoses are different lengths.
The red "See-Clear" bags were used thru 1964 on most models. Blue bags marked FoMoCo were used on some 1964's and 1965/66's. Since these kits were usually dealer installed, either bag may be seen 1961/66.
