Need some info. Firt is I have a 95 stroker and I found a fuel leak. I don't know if it's the line yet or the tank . But where could I get a cheap tank? And are the pumps on our trucks mechanical from the engines or do they have a pump inside the fuel tank. If so how easy would it be for me to swap tanks?
Our trucks have a two stage fuel pump in the engine valley, no tank pump. If it's the tank, drop it, clean it, and JB Weld it. If it's the line, cut and replace the bad section.
For another tank, I would check salvage yards, anything from a 90 - 97 (gas or diesel) will fit. To swap tanks, support with a jack, remove straps, lower until you can reach the fuel and electricial lines and disconnect them, then lower to the ground.
It could be that your rollover valve has come loose from the tank. I have seen this on several trucks over the years, it's only held in by an o-ring and friction. Also check the metal fuel line where it bends when leaving the tank, they can develop vibration cracks.
