Well, I hit the junkyard again today on the way home from work (I quit my job!) and found another nice LUND visor and a real nice set of headlight bezels.
And here they are installed next to the 80 F100 grill that I found a couple of weeks ago.
You sir, are a junkyard maniac! I wish I had time to go out to the playground like you, but the wife keeps tellin' me I can't go out and play with the junkyard guys.
I have one of those visors on the truck I just bought, and I am not thrilled with it. It makes the truck look different, which is ok, but when driving over 55mph, it bounces up and down with the wind, making it noisy. That also makes me think how aerodynamic is this thing? Of course they claim it "helps" the aerodynamics.
Also every morning when you start out, water will drip down the windshield when you go down a hill or hit the brakes. Either a little bit from the dew, or a lot if it rained previously.
They aren't going to work on my truck any way because of the running lights. Plus, I'm not about to start drilling holes in my rust free cab after going through all of that work swapping it out.
I buy this stuff cheap to resell. It helps to fuel my habit.
I have so many parts, I'm thinking about building a second truck for my father. This one will be lowered and flat black. A "rat rod" to match one of my custom Harleys.
I had some time this morning, so I went back and took a look at the Bronco that I got the under hood tool box from. Scored this under hood light, and the foamboard (from a 93 truck) that I need for my headliner. Best part is that the existing headliner was falling off and the foamboard was mint! I've taken about 10 of them out over the last couple of weeks, and they were either cracked or I couldn't get the headliner material off without destroying the foamboard. It's very brittle.
I already dropped off the foamboard at my friend's trim shop and he is going to lay some new material on it for me. I should have it back in a day or two.
Only thing I need now is touch up the tilt steering column, re-install the transfer case boot and find two nice black sill plates and my interior is done!
I love those style of underhood lights. My '85 has one, I only wish my '89 did too. They come in very handy.
I thought about adding one of those LUND visors to my '85, but can't justify spending the money on one. Maybe I'll luck out someday and find one at a junkyard...

Thats one thing that used to bother me is the water leaking and what I did to fix it is,the 2 center pockets is where the water would gather I drilled 2 small holes 1/8" in the corners of the pockets and it helped as the water would drain off unless they got something stuck in them.

I've been wanting a Sunvisor for years for my truck. I want one with the lights across the top tho.
If they are attached properly, They don't leak nor do they flap around going down the highway.
I gotta admit uncle.stosh, You crack me up everytime I see a new thread about something you got at the boneyard.

Did you see my other thread for the REALLY nice lighted LUND visor that I found a couple of weeks ago?
And, LUND sent me all new lenses, hardware and wiring for FREE!
Just got back again today and I scored more cool stuff.
Another under hood reel light.
A nice 5.8 HO Air Cleaner (mine had that stupid holley foam ***** on it)
Another set of early woodgrain dash and radio trims
A set of late model door strikers
Another intermittent wiper delay switch
A mint set of pedal rubbers
A mint set of chrome door handles
A mint XLT chrome overhead light with the eyeballs
Going back tomorrow for a dual battery mount (the one for the passenger side). Found two really nice chrome step bumpers but didn't buy them. I don't have a need, but if anyone else does please let me know.
Also saw a mint rust free hood there too. I'll be going back for that one too.
Tons of 5 lug F150/Bronco wheels with centers there too.
I envy you - there are NO salvage yards within two hours of here that will let you pull your own parts. You gotta call them ahead of time and let them do the work. When I lived in PA there were lots of slavage yards and they all let you roam their yards. I've only been able to find two yards at all that have any 80-86 parts available. They're way to quick to crush them in these parts. Guess I'll keep having to buy my stuff from you.
At least the weather is better here in TX. I haven't shoveled snow in over 7 years!
