Was the rear of the truck lifted off of the ground when you did this shaking of the tire? What direction were you shaking it in? Fore and aft or up and down? How much play are we talking about? Does your truck have a limited slip rear axle? What is the axle code on the door tag of your truck?
Answers to the these questions and confirmation that we are talking about the truck in your profile will stimulate help with your problem from many knowledgable members. Good luck!
