OK, I searched the web for about 30 minutes and i found most of what i needed D4AE D=70-79
4=SPECIFIC YEAR
A=PASSENGER CAR
E=ENGINE (NOT SURE) But heard that if it was replaced with an M it was made in Mexico. Thought that was kinda funny
So that means that the engine come out of a 1974 fullsize passenger car.

That engineering number is a design number
That engine was designed for a 1974 Large Ford Car Probably an LTD
The suffix AA3 means there were a few changes made to it by the time it got in your truck
Brain fart : I forget the first year for the 351M right now.
In trucks it was 1977.
