This lite is always on the last couple of years. in 04 I went to a dealer to have this problem corrected. They said there were no codes comming up so Ford suggested replacing the Ecm. OK I says lets fix this, I am trying to pass emissions test. The o2 sensor was also replaced at that time 150000 km.
When I picked up the truck the lite was on. Not being made of cash I decide to let it ride. Probably a mistake but the dealer shop would just roll me for more money to fix this problem. With no codes present their guess would be as good as mine. I tried getting a better seal at the gas cap seemed to work for about 1 year, lite off. Then it came on again and won't go off unless the truck sits for afew weeks or I disconnect the battery. Skip to present ,lite is on, back to dealer there are codes PO155,PO139,PO402 they change the DFPE sensor.
I had them do the plugs and fuel filter. codes clear ok to go. The lite is still on and of course they will hook it up and look for more codes and then bleed me some more for something they are just guessing at. I could change out every sensor the truck has for the cost of one visit to these guys. If we're guessing hey; I don't need to be a tech to do that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks for responding to my query. I'm new to this so allow me to apologize for any etiquet blunders i may come up with. i took my truck in to the shop for OBD scan and this could be an oxy sensor but the first step is to replace the ECM to ensure it is properly interogating all the parameters. this was tried in 04 when i had it in for the same check eng lt. I'm wondering whether anyone else has ever had a similar problem and how if ever it was resolved. besides this mystery this is by far the best vehicle i've owned i can't stand the thought of losing her. she runs fine no misses lots of power. thanks
There might be some other reason for the light to be on - ABS or airbag light blown maybe? Do both the ABS and the air-bag lights come on when you first turn on the key?
You mention a DPFE so I'm going to assume it's a 1999 model?
The P0155 and P0139 point to an O2 sensor issue... if you already changed both, check all the wiring and connectors... The other code is usually DPFE related.
Some of the problems with reading codes from the PCM when the light is on, might be related to:
Well after getting the truck back i had a poke around the engine just to see what might come up. there is no O2 sensor after the cat. i figure it must be air leak somewhere ahead of the O2 sensor? manifolds; first connection good place to start. right away there was a manifold bolt which was backed off. drvr side #1st cylinder from the front, gulp... as i was trying too get my wrench on one bolt it broke off rusted s#@%. i'm going to chew on doing this myself. $$$ I will keep you up on what happens.
many thanks to Monsta and krewat for replying
Hawaii nice, but can you boast 300+ days of rain a year
Hello, yes it does rain that much here. from oct into march we are soaked after that we're only wet. The systems come from the mid pacific and the local weather guys call it the "pineapple express" 75-80 inches a year percip.
Hawaii is the dream of most people who live on the "wet coast" of north america
I was trying humor to cover my jelousy.

I would have never thought that it rained that much in Canada.
Now that I know what you meant you humor makes sense.
