Where is the PCM?
First off -- I am new to all this. With that said: The transmission on my 1991 F250 is shot. I am going to replace it myself. An in-law of mine used to be a Ford mechanic and can get me a rebuilt transmission at a good price. When I gave hime the code off the failed transmission that is currently in the truck, he said it's a tranmission for a gas-engine, fourwheel drive, F350!
That little twist has caused him to wonder about replacing it with the "proper" transmission because we dont know if the controller has been modified/changed too. So now I need to find the controller to see if I can give him some sort of code to identify it. I DONT KNOW WHERE IT IS OR WHAT IT SHOULD LOOK LIKE. Can anyone help with this? Also, should I just get a new controller to go with the new transmission or should I keep going with another transmission just like what I have now?
P.S.
I am the 3rd owner. The second owner knows nothing about it's history, he did say that the first owner replaced/rebuilt the transmission but no further details.
Thanks for your help.
