Can I run a line straight to the battery from the coil with an in line fuse or will this drain the battery. Will it not drain power unless the engine is cranking? If I need to wire it into the fuse box it should have power on start and then run? Thanks,
Sean
It will drain the battery if the points are closed. It will also burn the points up(I am assuming you have points). And on top of that, how are you going to turn the engine off?
I have no idea what you are doing, but you could run power from the battery with a fuse into the cab, and use a toggle switch. Then run out to the coil +. Most ignitions require a resistor in the line going to the coil to drop the voltage and keep from overheating the ignition system. You can get a Chrysler type resistor at the store and use it.

Yeah thats embarassing... I didn't even think about that. I have a resister in the line already, but it is a durspark II distributer with an after market coil.
