I have a 2005 F-250 crew cab with 6.0 powerstroke, I am currently only getting 12 mpg mostly city driving. It seems the more diesel costs the less mpg that I get. My wifes 2004 Excursion 5.4L gets 12.5 in town and 16 on our last trip to Florida.
check your air pressure in your tires i run 75 psi all around and get a lot better gas mileage than when the air pressure was lower avg 14 city and 18 hwy 5.4 and 373 gear ratio
Since the OP has a gasser, all the replies by diesel owners doesn't really help with his original question! I think he is looking for responses from others who drive SD's with the 5.4L.

10-12 city is what i get. 15-16 on highway. i bought a 1990 civic to drive to work and let the truck sit. it gets 42-43mpg. its stupid and dorky but a hole lot cheaper.
