factory solid axle?
So im lookin at a 86 F-250 4wd with a 6.9. Its all original. Ive seen pics but not the actual truck. The guy says it has a solid front axle but doesnt know what a ttb is. So i ask is that possible? I thought all 80-86 had ttb. Also what about an F-350 with the same engine. TTB or Solid. Also if its a solid axle is it a Dana 60? Thanks guys

I believe that the diesel 4x4s had a solid axle They had a 1 ton front end under them, that I know for sure. I almost bought an 85 4x4 diesel. It had the 1 ton front end, it was factory. I knew the guy that bought it new. The one ton in 85-86 was the Dana 60.

85.5 and newer F350's have the D60 solid axle. F250's never had a solid axle 80-97, and 80-91, with a regular cab, the D44 HD TTB was standard, no matter which engine you had. The D50 was optional with max front GVWR packages. After 84, F250 extended cabs came with the 50 by default.
