Front Coil Spring Swapping

I have a 1987 F150 that I want to start borrowing parts from for a 1996 F150 I am trying to restore. Can I use the front coil springs from the 1987 on the front of the 1996? The ones on the 87 are in great shape and the ones on the 96 have been heated to give the past owner the "Low-Rider" look (only to ruin the way the tires sit on the road). They now are making contact on pretty much the inside edge of the tires and give a god-awfull shake when going over 35 miles per hour. The idiot also cut one rear shackle and on the other side cut the mounting bracket riveted to the frame with a torch. This allowed the rear leaf springs to rest on the underside of the 8-foot box instead of being in the hangers like they are supposed to be. I will be borrowing more parts from the 87 for the rear. Can anyone out there give me some input as to their being exchangable? I am not in the financial position at this time to purchase new ones, and I don't trust ones from a junk yard being in any better shape.
Thanks,
Tom

Thanks for the info... Do you have any tips on ways I can check out other parts for wear once I have the springs out (bushings, ball joints, etc.)?

If the 87 have never been replaced they more than likely r going to be tired . (sag) But anything is better than the condition u described.
