I have an '84 F150 351w. Two weekends ago I replaced the drivers side fender. I did not run the truck after that. Yesterday, I installed a new exhaust heat riser thing which involved the removal of the drivers side manifold. when I was done, I tried to start it and it just turned over. I'm not getting spark at the plugs, nor from the coil wire at the cap.
The fender doesn't fit perfectly, and there's a wider than normal gap between it and the hood. We've had a real lot of rain lately. I'm thinking that water got throught the gap and corroded and/or fried the ignition module, which is right there. Anybody think that's possible??
The coil's only a few years old, but I guess it could have died in the last 2 weeks. Or I broke something while removing the manifold. This truck started up on the first crank for the last couple of years. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
I would imagine you unplugged or moved some wiring around the ignition module? I would look it over carefully, and unplug and check the connections. I have seen two posts lately with dead ignitions, and both ended up replacing the plugs to the ignition module and distributor.
Thanks Dave, I'll check the connections and everything else in the area. Maybe I pinched a wire or something. I couldn't locate any ground wires that might be involved with the ingition that I may have snapped, that was my first thought.
