What size pipe is run stock on ours. also what do you guys think about throwin a muffler on there like a banks monster. ive heard alot about straight pipe but with fuel the way it is i dont wanna loose no mileage also im tryin to keep the cost factor down soo keep that in mind preciate it guys
Lots of guys here run a straight pipe. No muffler means less back pressure and the exhaust gets out easier which results in better performace and lower EGTs.
I currently have a muffler but am about to go straight pipe for the simple reason that I want to legally **** my Homeowners Association off before I move. I leave for work at 5:30 am every morning.
The only affect I have found with fuel economy and me running a strait pipe is strickly related to my uncurable desire to hear that 7.3 sing. Other than that little glitch, it only makes since that less restrictions means better air flow and air flow is the key to diesel performance. More air in, more air out, better for engine all the way around.

Nothing beats, a strait piped 7.3 on high idle with the EBV turned on. Especially at 5:00am, Let it warm up a while!
DON'T GO BANKS!!!DON'T GO BANKS!!!DON'T GO BANKS!!!DON'T GO BANKS!!!DON'T GO BANKS!!!
There are about a hundred options out there cheaper than them. If you are going to spend money on a muffler you might as well save up the other two hundred dolla for a full exhaust. MKO - Find them on eBay. I have heard of some Magnaflow systems sellingn for $314 or something like that lately. IMO that is a way better deal than cobbeling a stock system.
well ive been thinkin on it i dont want to spend 350 for a full 4'' turbo back but eventually i wanna put a edge on it so it may be better just to do it like that.. but at the same time i dont wanna be soundin like a grain truck ha ha im planin on keepin her AWHILE see my delima ha ha

And scrap the idea of saving for the edge and go straight to the DP-Tuner. Less exspensive and a hole lot better

I second the don't get edge or banks idea, both of them you pay a lot of money for and don't get as much back, there is a several $100 mark-up because of the name. Get a DP Tuner it kick the crap out of anything else, make sure before you chip you get a tranny and pyro guage. A BTS valve body will help save your tranny if you don't any chip you use will eventually toast the tranny. As for the exhaust I straight piped mine for $20 the day I got it, I will save up to do a 4" straight pipe soon. Also if your going to do exhaust and a chip your going to have to do the intake as well, the 6637 mod is the cheapest, and argueably the best, unless you don't like the sound of a the turbo.
Oh and have fun this is only the beginning of PMS (PowerStroke Mod Sydrome)
well i got a buddy that can get me a edge for 200 and thats with the monitor and the truck came with a k&n filter just not intake soo.. how much would a dp tuner run nothin to fancy tho
The Edge Juice w Att monitor for $200 is a good deal. You could buy it and run it till you get REAL programming. You could sell it on eBay today and break even or make money.
The K&N's haven't shown good things on oil analysis reports. They are letting a lot of dust through and "dusting" turbos. This results in ripped up intake fins. This is parroting, so do a search and find out the info first hand.
If I could have straight piped my truck for $20 I would have done it. Nobody around here could mess with anything larger than 3" (Now that I know, I should have went to truck shops) The clamps alone to make it happen were going to be about $20. IIRC you have to flip the pipe infront of the muffler 180* to make it a straight shot between the big hole where the muffler used to be.
www.dp-tuner.com is your source for pricing. Check out guys sigs for what tunes they run. The possibilities are endless.
