My 79 Shortbed has a miss in it somewhere, cant seem to nail it. Actually im not totally positive that its a miss, but under load at about 1200 to 2000 rpm it shakes really bad, and throuhgout the rpm range it lacks torque. I know the 351m's and 400's enough to know that you shouldnt have to downshift into third from fourth the make it up a rinky dink hill. Also starting out in second you gotta beat it or itll stall. I've had 3 different carbs on it, new plat. plugs, dist. cap. rotor, air filter, and i run it on 91 octane. It has Accel plug wires on it that are about 2 yrs old. I cant seem to find any vac leaks or anything unusual. Please help me out before I get a little temper wild. Thanks, Mike

Might want to check the diaphram in the dist. for leaks, also make sure nothing came loose inside, springs, ect. Sounds like it might not be getting enough advance.
Well I tested all of my plug wires everything seems fine and dandy, my EGR plate is all good, I just had that off and cleaned it up and eliminated the EGR valve and slapped on a plate. So I think a compression test is coming next. If that doesnt bring up anything bad ill have to get myself a vac gauge. I dont know why I bother though, another motor is goin in next week anyways....yeah well. It'll make me feel better to hear it run right one time. Thanks guys.
