Yes, same capacity. The plug is the only difference.

Well, That sucks. You can install a drain plug cheaper than buying 4R100 pan.
Oh well, on to the next bump in the road.

I think the 4x4 e4od oil pan is slightly larger but by how much I can't tell.

You are correct. I think it is 2-3 quarts more. If you go this route you will need the 4x4 trans filter also.

I was talking about the E4 2wd pan compared to the E4 4wd pan. It was a "first thing" mod 10 years ago.

Gotcha. I thought we were comparing 4wd pans between the two.

YEAH, the "higher capacity" in your first post and signature stating a 2x4 gave it away with what you were inquiring about a larger pan.

Anyways, 4r100 pan with drain plug would be awsome but I like to change my filter on services so its your call on the e4od or the 4r100. You also need that 4wd trans filter, if you install the 2wd it may fall off since the pan supports the filter and you can starve the trans. of oil.

Youse guys has got me as confused as a sterile Bunny. Lets see if I have this straight. I have a E4OD 2X4 so to increase ATF capacity I can install the E4OD pan off of a 4X4 and use the 4X4 Filter. How am I doin'??

Corect but you could also install a 4x4 pan from a 4r100 and have a drain plug.

From the factory the E4 had no drain plugs in the pans. But the 4R pan is the exact same thing except it has a drain plug.

Rog if you want higher capacity yes a 4wd pan will do what you want along with a 4wd filter. Now all the E4 and 4R pans sold from Ford are 4R pans with a drain plug.
