Be careful as you do this.
The rod that goes into the waste gate actuator must not be allowed to turn.
If it does, the diaphram will be torn.
Also the rod is staked on a lot of turbos.
Loosen the lock nut,
Then remove the E clip on the wastegate arm.
Now turn it so you make the rod longer about 1 full turn.
Apply a bit of your favorite penetrant/lubricant and then tru to go shorter.
If it tries to stop at the original position, don't try to hard to turn it farther or you may twist the rod off.
Instead remove the end and run a tap down inside the female end to clean the threads up.
After that is done, try again.
Mine gained 1 PSI for about every two turns.
Keep it under 15 PSI, and watch your pyrometer very closely for a while.
You are high enough that you may have EGT heat problems just from the thin air.
thanks dave i'm only shooting for maybe 10 or 11 depends on what my egt's are doing so shorter is more boost? i will only go as far as I can with out applying to much force! and is it any different to turn up my IP on my 947.3L idi as it on the older 6.9 as above posted by farmboy?
on turning up pumps. i always hear you guys talkign about blowing black smoke under load. my truck has a light blue smoke when i start it up but once it warms up i dont get any kind of smoke coming out no matter what i do. is the pump turned down to much?
As far as i know my ip has never been turned up and i have a steady stream of black smoke pouring out under full throttle. Almost makes me want to cry when i see that cause diesel fuel is regualarly 3.75 a gallon around here.
yea i know its burnign some oil, not after it warms up a bit. or at least its hot enough to burn it better. the main drip on it if from either the oil pan gasket or the rear main seal. and im still kicking myself for not changing that when i had the tranny out.
