03 vs 05 Excursion

Does anyone know if there are any real differences between an early 03 model (w/7.3) and the 05 model (w/6.0), obviously other than the 7.3 vs 6.0 engine. I know the 05 has a factory rear sway bar & I think a cabin air filter for the A/C. I also heard the 05 had optional climate controlled seats insted of heat only. I currently have an 03 7.3 with 95k on it and am considering buying a newer model with less mileage before I sink a bunch of $$$ in lift, tires, etc... Plus I live on a dirt road & the cab air filter sounds real nice. I do have some concerns about the 6.0 PSD, not sure if its worth the risk. Are there any other differences between the two model years I should take into consideration, safety features, extra goodies, anything? Let me hear from you, especially the 6.0 PSD owners.

I think it depends it depends on what ur gonna do to the engine. If u chip it, exhaust intake, etc, get the 7.3. If ur not, and ur find a 6.0 that u like, DONT forget to do any oasis before u by it because u might be buyin 1 with some problems with it.

No cabin air filter on ANY Excursion.

05's have less content than 03's like hood blanket & other simple stuff.

The 05 does not have the sway bar as standard equipment, it was optional. Like Monsta said, there was never a cabin air filter in any year of Excursion. The 05's still only have heated seats, no cooled seats. Again like Monsta said, theres no hood blanket like there is on the 03 and older Excursions. The cup holders in the 2nd row flip down armrest are no longer there and the center air vent in the 2nd row is also gone. The interior is also slightly different and as I'm sure you know the front has been redesigned. Here are some pics to show the differences.

What I meant to say is that there is no hood blanket or cover on the 05's like there is on the 03 or older Excursions.

Plus, the 05's (as pictured) have ugly black dashes and steering wheels. But the front end is much nicer looking than all the previous years.

Shoot I actually prefer the 05 interior. Didn't you just recently change the dash on your Excursion to older color?

Do the 6.0's not upgrade well (chip, exaust, etc...)?

If you do chip, intake and exhaust, chances are the heads will float. Most ppl with the 6.0s get new head studs. Once you do that, u can basically mod the 6.0 like the 7.3. If your goin for all out power and u have alot of money, id go with the 6.0 and do studs. Then chip it etc and ull be makin alot of power.

Thanks for the pics. Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference. So far I have: no hood blanket

: no 2nd seat cup holder & center air vent

: black dash & sterring wheel

: redesigned front clip

Thanks for the info so far. Is there anything else anyone knows about?
