can someone help me i pulled out my distributrer and the oil pump driveshaft fell in the motor and i cant get it out with a magnet. its a 91 302 ho i can still see it in there; am i going to have to take off the oil pan?
Did it actually fall in the motor or stay in the oil pump? Usually there is a clip to keep the pump driveshaft from coming out when you remove the dist. If you can see it, it's probably where it belongs. Try a 1/4" drive socket and ext on the O/P shaft to see if it will still turn ok. You are probably OK.
I have heard of people just leaving the old one in there and buying a new one and installing it. You might want to talk to someone who works on Fords all the time, and if you find someone, I am wondering how many they say they have left in the pan.
Get a neodyium magnet and superglue and wrap some safety wire around it on to
a rod and use that to grab it. Or you could take apart a microwave and break the
magnet that is on the magnetron and use that they are super strong magnets and
either one needs to be attached firmly to the rod or else you will get that magnet
stuck inside the motor too since they are so strong!!
