charging

I seem to be having abnormal readings on my 88 ford in the last few days usually the guage is a lil above half with headlites and heat on but now it starts out good when u first start it for day but as it warms up goes below half and goes even lower when heats goin... So my question is regulator or alt.

Could be either, a quick check for the alt is to use a voltmeter on the battery while the truck is running. If the voltmeter reads 13.8-14V give or take a tenth of a volt or two, then the alt is probably ok. This is not a full proof test for the alt, but it is a good indicator.

if you have a neighborhood advanced auto parts. im pretty sure they will test your battery and alternator for free. if not you may be able to go to a store like checkers or walmart and probably get them tested for a small fee
