I have a 02 CC LB v10 a k&n, 4inch lift and 35inch tires, no other mods yet, and have two broken bolts on the headers. I have read about the replacement headers. That was a great informative thread. I was wondering if i don't replace them any time soon will it cause any damage? Any kind of information will help. I'm just trying to justify buying headers while being a poor college student and gas prices being what they are. I know that getting headers will increase my gas mileage, some.
If you don't have any leaks from the manifolds you can let them go for a while. If you have two that are broken more will be broken after while. When I got headers on my 04' last fall I had one broken stud and the truck only had 27k on the clock.
You don't want a big leak at the manifolds because the leak can throw off the readings of the O2 sensors.
With broken studs your exhaust manifolds could eventually warp but if you plan on replacing them with headers thats not a big deal.
thanks for the information. hopefully i won't have to let them go for too long. when my truck shifts into 2nd to 3rd i hear a pffft, but it shows no signs of leaking (black on the block, like in krewat pics).
