Have 72 GT RANCHERO original cobrajet car I'm trying to restore.
Need quarter panels. Has the 351 Cleveland 4V, Cobrajet. I am opting on rebuilding all its stock equiptment, or just modifying to high performance aftermarket? Can't decide. Another option is that I have a recently rebuilt 429CJ motoras well, was possibly going to drop that in, but then the car wouldn't have its original potential.
Any ideas? Any cars for sale that my 429CJ would be better for, looking for a 1970-1971 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler, like its original donor car, any condition. Also need quarterpanels for the ranchero.email me at;

I don't know much about the early 70's rancheros... is it based on the torino body? is there a website maybe that gives details? I'm Australian and like my utes, you see 8)

I too have a 1972 Ranchero with a 351 CJ. Actually it is a 1973, with a 1972 front clip. The original engine in the vehicle was a 400 - so what I suspect is that there was an accident and the front clip and 351 CJ engine came from a 1972 Torino or Ranchero donor.

I too am looking at replacing or rebuilding and have narrowed it down to two choices: Keep the 351 CJ and use plates to increase the port velocity of the 4v heads - or swap in a 400 with reworked heads (larger valves and port work). Keeping the 351 would be cheaper, particularly since I could also keep the transmission. Going with Aussie heads on a 400 would give me 10:1 compression which is appealing too.

I thought about going to a 460, but that would add weight (possibly requiring suspension adjustments), would use more fuel, and would require different accessory brackets. I really like Cleveland engines but I guess if someone gave me a good 460 and C6 I would use them...
