Coolant filter

For those with the Coolant filter were did you get it and how often do you need to test the coolant with the filter? And how long between filter changes do you go?

What is the point in runnign one? Im guessing longer engine life or something like that. Ive seen a few people running them and always wondered why.
Thanks

Yes still test/strips. You could upgrade to ELC.
To high of SCA is hard on pumps.

I purchased mine from Dieselmann's and do not run a charged filter. One of the main purposes of the filter is to remove the grit, scale and other inpurities that is in the coolant. This stuff causes wear and tear on seals, hoses and aluminum parts in the engine.

The filters last a very long time unless you have a real gunky system. Just feel the filter and if it is not hot it's time to change.

You should be maintaining your SCA level if you have a filter or not. Once you get your SCA level set it should be good for a year ar so but you should d occasional test just like you would a pool or jacuzzy but not that often.

The filter is tied into the heater hoses. The hose that come off of the pass head area is a pressure line and the hose that attaches to the heater hose on the top of the water pump is the return line. The kit (if you get a kit)
supplies you with "T's".

You can see where I installed mine in the photo's in the thread entitled:
"Shroud Mod"

On another note.
Install ground straps on rad and heater core.
It will stop the electrolysis issues.
