I have a 2006 Expedition and it just isnt tough enough sounding - i want to add a performance muffler but im worried that it will mess up my computer. Is this something i need to worry about or not. If not then what do you all recommend for a muffler, Flowmaster 40 series or Dyna flow?
40 series would be way to loud, and would get old after a while, and may also resenate into the cabin, 70 series sounds good and doesnt drown out your stereo!

I dont think so, but dont quote me, because I think you are not really sdrewing with O2 sensors and restricting anything, I have had a cpl buddies do these mods on there trucks with no check engine light or anything, they never really gained much other then a sweet sounding ride, which is what you want.... but i could be wrong.
I put exhaust on my truck. Does nada in terms of harming things.
If you want performance, don't get Flowmaster ("Dronemaster). It's baffled and chambered so it won't really flow like a straight through muffler.
Dynamax is probably going to be pretty ****ty as well. They're not really a 'big' named muffler brand.
Check our Borla or Magnaflow if you want something for sound and performance.
Here's a soundclip of my truck. I put on Borla catback and I love it and wouldn't have it any other way. I don't know if Borla makes a catback for your truck or if you want to buy just a muffler but it is a classy sound that can't be put down.
If you want LOUD, get the Flowmaster 40 or the Flowmaster Super 44.
If you want that growl at startup and a bit at idle and an awesomely pure sound at WOT then Borla sounds the best (IMO). Flowmaster sounds great just tooling around the town at 2K rpms. Borla sounds great through the entire RPM range, unlike the Flows I've heard on trucks.
Something comparable to Borla in Flow is probably the Flow 50 SUV or 70 Series mufflers.
If I still had my '98 Expedition(s) I woulda thrown a cheap muffler on there but my dad never thought it was worth it
I had only heard one Expedition with exhaust before I came to the south and I could never get a taste for what it sounded like. Once I got down here though, I heard my identical Expy (but a 2000 I think) with duals. It sounded pretty mean.
Well I never had any issues with my exhaust being Flowmaster 40 Delta Series. I find it a perfect balance with noise and performance, I think theres a big difference between the regular 40 and the Delta Series. My friend here at my new base (04 Exp XLT) has a normal 40 series and yea its just like yall said drone and loud and such but my Delta has the right balance of performance and sound. So before counting out Flowmaster look into "All" of the different models not just the run of the mill. Plus alot of what I'm reading here I see is personal preference, in the end you are the one paying for it dude so go with what you think, this is just advice and not telling you what to do.
I was told that on my 2000 expy, I was better off just replacing the muffler, If I went for the 3" pipe I would lose low end pressure, anyone else hear this?
those are two great sounding exhausts... that Borla one is pure class! thats how a classy understated but growly exhaust should sound! is it any particular model of Borla exhaust? i've gotta get one of those!
With respect to the computer question... based on my experience with European BMW's and the like, the O2 sensors will be in the cats or the down pipes and thus it will only affect air flow/pressure to some degree. the computer will re-learn the trucks new characteristics by monitoring its sensors, the exhaust will take a week or so to carbon up and then the sound will settle and the computer will have a good set of reference values on which to base its maps etc...
