Toolbox & K/N Questions

I asked this in the 97-03 forum but didn't get but one reply so here is my question.

Toolbox
I have a diamond plated toolbox which was on my old truck and I put on my black ford. I wish I could paint it black so I wouldn't have to buy a new one. Would I have to prime the box down then paint it or is there a paint I could use to do the job myself?

K/N
I have a magnaflow dump on my truck V8 5.4L with a K/N air filter and it sounds great, but would a Cold K/N intake make my tone deeper and louder? Just trying not to pay for duel pipes my friends.

a CAI won't make a bit of difference in exhaust sound

scuff/sand, then prime then paint the box.

a better option for the tool box is powder coating. It may still need to be etched, but the powder coat should hold up better to abuse. (most black boxes are powder coated from their factories)

I think I am going to just buy a new black UWS. I have a Better Built. To be honest I love Better Built toolboxs they hold up very well.

When I was offering Line-x, it was $120 to spray the inside of the box. I'd figure twice that to do inside and out. You should be able to get a UWS black box for around $320.

An intake wont change the exaust note, but you will hear the intake. It will sound similar to a carbed moter with the lid on the air cleaner flipped ( kinda like a v8 boat motor sound ), personally i like the sound. I dont have one on the 5.4 but i have the k/n filter charger on my 5.7 vortec and its louder than my free flow exaust.
