about two weeks ago i was plowing the same street i've been plowing for 3 years and hit a slightly raised sewer cap,(happens offen) drivers side bag went off. scared the hell out of me. didn't even know what happend for about 5 seconds. what a headache (literally and figureatly$) i have a 99psd350. foremen on the route says a few years ago a guy with same truck it happened to. anyone else?
no seatbelt, it was 3am and i was going maybe 10 miles an hour, maybe. not a car in sight. very peaceful, had radio on real low, baaaaang! the sewer caps sometimes stick out maybe two or three inch's. you hit them all the time plowing and usually the trip edge takes care of them but this one was just up there.
Definiately something to think about. Just bought my '99 and I'll be pushing snow with it too. I might have to disable them so that doesn't happen to me and ruin a good pair of shorts!
I can tell you where the plug is to disconnect it, but it would probably be a wise thing to disconnect the batteries for a few minutes before unplugging it. I would assume this would also give you some sort of dash light and possibly an engine code. Maybe someone who knows more will chime in on any negative consequences.
You'll get the air bag light and an air bag code if you unplug the air bag.
Nothing about the engine will be affected.
Insurance company may not be very understanding if you get in a wreck.
