c6 not going forward

c6 not going forward
please help. I have a 72 ford f100 with 390/c6 transmission.In the morning I have to wait for several minutes for the tranny to engage.It will go into reverse easily but wont even try forward. My question is what is going on and how hard is it to fix. thanks Aaron

Well some things that come to mind for me are WORN PUMP, BAD SEALS, BAD GOVERNOR probably give or take some more parts. Your transmission might be in need a complete overhaul. If you have good organization skills and great mechanical knowledge you can do the overhual but if you kow nothing of transmissions I suggest you ask a local *reputable trans repair shop for a rebuild quote. If you do attempt a rebuild yourself CLEANLINESS is what you NEED, you can not stress that enough with transmission servicing.
