Of the coolant additive I need to use to protect from cavitation? My conscience is really starting to bother me. It has been at least 50k since I've added anything at all to what is almost all original coolant. The only coolant I've ever added is what has been lost because of 2 water pump replacements. I'm nearly ashamed to admit this in public.
I don't have an answer for you Mark, but I know quite a few guys drain the coolant and replace it with Cat extended life coolant- comes pre-diluted and with the necessary additives. Fairly expensive but is supposed to be good for quite a few miles.
Rotella T ELC, that is what you want, no more testing, its good for 300,000, then test add in Rotella T coolant additive and good for another 300,000. It's Bright red in color, search for Red ELC, you should get some hits.
Seems to me that I've read here on FTE that a very, very, very complete flush of the green is required to covert to the red, and is not the red very pricey?

yes, you must get as much of the green out as possible. there is a relabeled brand of the Rotella ELC sold at walmart that others on this forum have concluded is the same product in different bottles. It is called Final Charge Global in a black bottle with a red cap and a picture of a semi on the front. It is something like $9-10 a gallon IIRC

The Rotella ELC and Final Charge is the same thing. The Rotella is 100%, and must add water. The Final Charge is a 50/50 blend and do not add water. I went with the Final Charge from wal-mart. Buy about 20 gals bottle water and flush 3 times.
shoot, i am having a brain fart. I think its either 8 or 9 gallons. More than likely, you wont use that much for the fact you wont be able to get everything out of the system.
like miller_feed said, flush the system several times
We have any OEM pet***** on the blocks of these 7.3's, or am I just showing my advanced age just by asking this question? There was a time when Detroit actually installed such a thing on their engines.
You must get all of the green out to go to red make sure you pull the block plugs, one is on the drivers side it takes a 1/4" socket wrench no socket to break it loose, I think it is the top one on the drivers side, and the passanger side is only one, it's above the starter. The passanger side one is a pain thanks again Ford! The drain the radiator, pull all the tubes off. Some of the green in mine ended up stuck in the hose between the resivoir and the radiator. Also stick a hose in the tube going from the radiator to the engine and run for about 1 min, no longer. That way water pump, and engine will get flushed too.
