*RECALL* cam shaft sensor

I just recieved a recall from Ford about a recall for the camshaft sensor. Went to my local dealer and they replaced it no problem ,the good thing is I had done it in 04 on the side of the road and I had the reciept and they refunded it and got a check like 4 days later.....
I just want to say thank you to Ford, Roc

Good info, Roc. And WELCOME to FTE!!

Lots of folks have taken advantage of this recall, but there are also a lot of us who had already gone through the upgrade to the new unit and didn't have the purchase receipt documentation for a refund from Ford. I'm personally not too worried about it since the new one only cost me about $25.

People also talk about problem after getting it done. Maybe a problem or something with the new one? I don't know if I want to take mine to get done. Runs fine and have one in glovy till the day come I need to change it.

There is a possibility that the stealer may reflash your PCM, which may not be a problem unless you're running a non-stock program (like mine)... reflashing would remove the "benefits" of the non-stock programming. If there are "low life" techs doing the work, there is always some potential for sabotage to increase their work load. If there are "monkey techs", you may just end up with some accidental damage to other components or improperly re-installed parts. There is a long list of potential problems from these and many other avenues.

A good, reputable dealership who has techs who are responsible and non-deviant by nature won't give you those problems.

When I had mine done, I talked to the service manager and the tech. Told them for no reason will you flash my PCM. They agreed but said they never flash for the recall of the CPS.

My truck ran smoother, and better than ever before after I had it done, I think my old one may have been on it's way out the door.

I would hope that people/techs/grease monkeys are not that shady.
