2000 f-150 problems

Hi i have a 2000 F-150 4x4 with a 4.6, recently my truck has started to give me some trouble. The truck starts up and runs fine in park, neutral, and reverse. When you put the truck in drive though it cuts right off no rough idle or anything the rpms just drop right off and the truck cuts off. If i put the truck in neutral and bump it to drive while applying a little throttle i can keep it running and drive it fine but as soon as i try to come to a complete stop in drive it will cut off. I was thinking it might possibly be the torque converter. Has anyone had this problem before and could possibly tell me whats wrong?
Thank you CRollins

Welcome to the forum

I would suspect either a vacuum leak or a sticking IAC (Idle Air Control valve)

Unlikely. Jimmy's suggestion is probably correct. He covered the most common reasons for this symptom. O2 sensors aren't even used during the first minute or two of cold engine startup. If the problem occurs then, the O2 sensors can be ruled out completely.

It might, however, be the TCC failing to disengage but that would be expected to also take place in reverse.

Clean your throttle body. Use the right cleaner (not carb cleaner).
