Had new heads, gaskets, and studs installed, took 3 weeks but truck is finished. Truck has 2 problems and here is what is going on.
Turbo makes a very high pitched squeal, like a bad bearing. Sounds really bad when you hit the gas almost like a bad belt, but they put a new main belt on the truck during head change. They claim there is a oil leak from main shaft/bearing on the turbo and recommend new turbo unit. Any thoughts? turbo worked fine before they did the head change.
Injector #5 keeps having trouble, engine idles really bad then dies when truck gets warmed up and drive for 1/2 hour or so. Runs great for about the firts half hour or so. Truck starts missing and then shakes really bad and has major power loss until it dies. They claim a connector on the injector (electrical) keeps having problems. Truck has stranded me twice in 2 days.
Any thoughts would really help. This truck is starting to wear me down....
When mine sounded exactly like that they diagnosed it as a broken turbo shaft. I called it a screech. But squeal sounds right too. Behaved like a squealing belt, but of course not in the right area for a belt. I expected it to be a turbo bearing, but it came back as broken shaft.
Your profile says you have a 2009, so you should be under warranty
A turbo is covered under the emissions warranty, so you should NOT pay the $100 deductible.
I have the screech on mine as well. It also had a Underboost code...which I cleared, and has a reocurring MAP/BARO code. I am assuming it has to do with the turbo so since I just picked it up a week ago I have made an appointment to take it back to the dealer. It runs fine but the screech is annoying along with the CEL being on all the time.
