Being lazy and not wanting to pull the radiator when changing the water pump I elected to drain the coolant, remove the hoses then elected to lean over the front of the shroud to loosen the water pump nut, as well as the bolts that hold the fan to the clutch.
Hoping that I don't drop something and do damage. I was sucessful in removing the fan and the clutch, then back under to free the lines to the lower half of the shroud then pulled that free. Damage acessment.....sore nipples and they hurt.
Never going to do that again. Measured down 10" from the top of the shroud on both sides and cut it in half. Then I got 4 sliding door stops from Truvalue that are made by National. I welded a bolt on the two bottom ones the I pop riveted it all together using a strip of sheet aluminum as a backing. Then placed a nut on the welded bolt and viola.
On the drivers side there is a wide area of the shroud that had nothing to secure it so I took a couple pieces of heaver aluminum, 3X2 I believe. Then I bent the bottom 3/8" outward ever so slight, drilled 3 holes and sandwiched them along the botton of the drivers side of the top portion of the shroud for support. This now slides down over the bottom portion. Worked great.
The good part of this mod is that I can remove the top portion of the shroud WITH OUT removing any hoses except the 1/2" over flow line.
If I ever have to get to that pump, fan or numerous other things it will be a piece of cake.

So our travel plans have been put on hold Which keeps me at home and I keep finding things to fix, break or bug the rest of you which I have started to concider part of my extended family.
