EBV question
ok i know this is probably already been adressed but i would still like to know more. Ok whats it for and how do i know its not clogged. A buddy of mine has a sixer and he said in cold weather (like 30) it sounds like a jet is about to take off outa the tailpipe. now ive listened when it was like 27 outside and no jet whoosh from mine ha ha. i dont think its clogged like at first because ive found out that that little overhead "lyeometer" is wrong and not to worry when i see 13.5 up there it really means 19.8 ha ha (thank God) and i've been informed that the EBV is a must check if i have poor fuel milage. Im not saying it doesn't need to be cleaned or even replaced because i doubt it has been. just a little help would be great. As always thanks guys

Well really it is only going to be loud if your truck is straight piped no muffler.
You will lose power and fuel mileage if the line is stopped up. If the valve does not open back up you will know because it will feel like the truck has no power and does not want to move.

Man, if you are getting 19.8 mpg don't touch anything. I would love to get that kind of mileage. With that kind of mileage there shouldn't be anything wrong with it, I wouldn't worry about it.

A related question- should the EBPV "flutter?" Mine seems to shut on and off, on and off after about 3-4 minutes of warmup time and will occasionally do it while driving (very annoying). And how big a PITA to pull the turbo to clean it?

well i get a lot of smirks cause i try my best to keep it under 2k so they can just go around till she gets outa the lowside then i'll look at um in the rearview! bouta change fuel filter aint been done last owner did it bout 13k miles ago so gonna go ahead so i KNOW its been done
