mileage
Like everyone, I'm looking for the best of both world's. I'd like all the power in the world when towing a trailer and the best possible mileage too! Mostly around town driving 'till camping season right now but was wondering if changing the air filter to a K&N and the exhast system to a Flowmaster or similar would improve the mileage. Also, would you remove the converter or not, I've heard it could effect the motors' performance as well? Anything else anyone could mention would be appreciated. 1999 E150 Chateau 5.4Ltr

The K&N and Flowmaster certainly won't hurt. I believe K&N says it's pretty common to improve MPG 1 to 2 mpg with the filtercharger. My guess is that with both mods you'd probably pick up a couple of mpg. Anything that helps your engine do what it's already trying to do and do it more efficiently has the potential to improve your mileage. I'm sure neither K&N or Flowmaster will GUARANTEE such improvements, but they're likely. As for the converter, I've heard different stories from different people. I don't know enough about that. Anyone else had experience with converter removal, and did it help??
