4x4 dose not work help!!!
hi, my friend and I are working on his 1998.5,f350,psd.6speed
about 3 months ago when he bought his truck 4 wheel drive worked great, then it went out. He replaced the auto locking hubs and still did not work.
The 4x4 drive light will not come on and you do not hear the transfor case lock in.
i think it is elctecal but not sure all the fuses are good .
if you know anything it would be appreciated.
we need a quik fix if posible we are supposse to get 5-8 in of snow tomorrow.

If its a 1998.5 I'm assuming its the 99+ body style.
I have heard from a few people that when there 4x4 did not work on that style, it ended up being a solenoid type thing under the truck that needed a tap with a hammer to get engaged. Not sure though, get someone else's opinion.

its probably the shift motor on the back of the t-case, give her a wack while someone else turns the ****, if that still doesnt work and you are stuck in a bind and need the 4x4 you can pull the motor off (3 bolts, easy to get to) and turn it by hand with pliers to engage
