Something funky while fishtailing....
well it's snowing pretty hard here in Dallas which is highly unusual so i took the truck out to lube up the 4x4. on my way home (in 2wd) i made a right hand turn and kicked the back end out. i fished pretty hard from side to side a few times and durning one slide, the truck sounded bogged down and almost stalled. once i straightened out, it came back to life and drove normal. what could have caused this? maybe the fuel sloshing side to side and messing with the fuel pump????

have about a 1/4 tank. i don't think it was a traction issue. the motor hesitated and almost stalled during a slide. I was feathering the throttle (to keep a controlled skid) so could it be something with the throttle? it started to run rough and felt like it was hesitating and bogging for about 1 sec and when the slide stopped and i let off the gas, it ran normal again. not sure how else to describe it...

My guess (and some experience talking here) is that you had two things happen at the same time that caused this. One, your ground speed started to catch up to how fast your tires were spinning. Two, if your wheels are spinning, your trans will still shift an the TC will lock, and I'm guessing your TC locked. The locking TC will also slow your wheels down. If you're only going 20 mph and your wheels were spinning at 55 MPH, trans in 3rd, but you're and your wheels suddenly slowed down to 20 MPH, that will almost stall the engine since the trans can't downshift that quickly. When you let off the throttle, the TC unlocked and the trans downshifted, so all was normal.
I've had straight line spins in the snow do almost the same thing when the TC locks. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I'm not sure if they do or not, but if they do and that switch was tripped, the truck would shut off completely until the switch was reset.

when my TC locks up...(i can lock mine at any speed)....it makes the rear end lock up so both tires will try to dig in...if i want to fish tail..i would need to raise my lock up speed...if you want to have fun in the snow..lock in the 4x4 and set the DP to 80 econo....and do some power slides....now there is some fun.....not sure if the evo was on or not..but you could have hit the rev limiter too...

They do have fuel inertia switches. It is located behind the passenger side kick panel.
I would try to get it back on the snow or on a dirt road and try to duplicate it. The good and bad news is, if there is a problem with a system somewhere, it will eventually make itself known. It could even be a cam position sensor. Did you get a service engine light or anything else?
I hope it was just a fluke one time thing. If not, and down the road you pinpoint the cause, make sure you follow up with a post to let us know what you find.

guys thanks for the replies! i think jtharvey got it right on. i did go out into a field and tried it again and it happened when my wheel speed picked up and the trans shifted gears and locked the TC up. great input from everyone. Thanks JTHARVEY!!
