I don't think it's possible to pull the pan with the motor in the truck. If your motors on a stand and the heads are off, you can have your pistons out in an hour or less. Make sure the con rods and bolts don't scuff your cylinder walls and mark each set to the proper cylinder.

Have you taken the heads to the machine shop yet?
How many miles on the engine?
Do you see a gouge in the cylinder wall?

My bet is valve guides and valve stems seals.

If you want to pull pistons and go that route, pull the engine.
Tear down and reassembly will be so much easier standing on flat ground.

i have these little deals that you put over the bolts when you pull the piston that way it doesnt scratch any thing.

I took the heasds to our local machine shop and he said that he thought the rings around the piston cracked and its lettin oil by. he also said i didnt need to boil or magnaflux them but i needed to have them pressure tested. I think there is 175,000 miles but there all with the pump turned up. I cant see a gouge on the cylinder wall because the piston is at the top.
