Engine Swap

I have a 1978 F-150 whith a 351M. I have a 351C to put in the old girl. I was wondering if any one has done this swap? Or can help me learn a little more. I know the 351C ain't built for a pickup but I am going to do the swap. Just means I will have to gear down and stand on it when the need arrises. So if any one can help that would be great..

It won't bolt up to the trans. If it's a auto you will have to fing a C6 with the small block bolt patern. If it's a standard you will need a small block bell housing.

the first problem I see, is the 351M has a big block bellhousing and the 351C has a smallblock bellhousing, so if you have an automatic, you will have to change the transmission, if you have a 4 speed you will have to change the bellhousing. Second, the 351C has a shorter deck height, so I am not sure if you will be able to bolt on the 351M accessories.

The 351C/m & the 400 are technically small blocks. The 351m/400 has the big block bolt pattern, the Cleveland has the SB Ford pattern.

The 351C and the 351M/400 are in the same engine family, the 335 series. In all technicality, there is no such thing as small blocks/ big blocks in Ford engines.

351W is the same as the late 289/302.

Thanks that is somthing that I have not heard yet about the bell housing. What about motor mounts? I have heard that I will have to build a custom job or will something else work, or any ideas at all? As far accesories go ain't to worried all i need is an alt and power steering.
