Thermocouple goes in the exhaust manifold.
What you could see for max temps would depend on how much the fuel is turned up.
1200 is about the max safe temp, and that is for very short periods.
The pistons start to melt at 1250.
Long hard pull, under 1150 or a bit lower.

Where is the thermocouple located?
If it is not in the exhaust manifold, or if it is after the turbo, you start subtracting from 1200 degrees for the max temp.
A turbo drops that safe max temp by 300 degrees if the thermocouple is after it.
